Los Angeles wildfire czar’s $500K paycheck for 90 days of work draws swift blowback, mayor reverses course. Los Angeles experiencing ‘crisis of leadership’ after wildfires. 1/2 a million for a month and 1 1/2 months of work? You’ve got to be shittin’ me! Idiotic stuff like this is precisely why California’s on the cusp of bankruptcy, and the Democrats are drivin’ the train to Brokeville.

House and Senate lawmakers move to slap limits on NGOs aiding illegal immigrants amid Trump funding crackdown. DHS recently cut funding to nonprofits, arguing that they fund illegal immigration. No shit Sherlock. From the reports I’ve read, the main things these groups do is tell the wetbacks how to avoid detection, encounters with law enforcement, and travel to Central America to put together convoys of illegal aliens to invade the United States.

Noem: ‘Get rid of FEMA the way it exists today.’ She’s right of course. They still need placeholder terminology to use as a fund retainer, but let the state where the natural disaster occurred determine how and when to deploy the funds. Federal workers who have no skin in the game are the worst people to determine who gets aid and how fast they get it. NATIONAL NOTES 13 FEBRUARY 2025

US Treasury instructed by Trump to stop minting pennies, citing high production costs. The U.S. Mint reported losing $85.3 million in the 2024 fiscal year that ended in September on the nearly 3.2 billion pennies it produced. Nobody alive today remembers the 1/2 cent, which was discontinued in 1857 after a run of 64 years. Hangin’ on to it is more nostalgia than common sense, and nickels are next. The cost to produce a penny is 270% more than its value, and for nickles, the disparity is 180%. Bottom line? Hang on to those penny and nickel collections for your grandkids. They might have enough value to be worth somethin’ when they get to be your age.

Energy experts blast failed billion-dollar DOE project as ‘financial boondoggle,’ ‘disaster.’ The Obama administration gave Ivanpah $1.6 billion in loan guarantees. Remember Solyndra? This is another one of his boondoggles, just like it was. Obama hasn’t been president for eight years, but his screw-ups are STILL spendin’ your money. If another Democrat didn’t ever occupy the White House for the rest of MY life, I’d die a happy man.
