Sufficient and Sustainable Funding for Oregon’s Transportation System. As has been said here before, there’re two things this state needs to do to fix its ever-worsening highway maintenance problem: 1. Quit electin’ Democrats and sendin’ ’em to Salem, and 2. Put some of their brainiacs to work figurin’ out a comparable fee to charge EV owners to make up for the gas tax they’re not payin’ because of the EVs they drive. Problem solved.

US bombers arrive in Middle East as concerns of Iranian attack on Israel mount. It reminds me of the night Desert Storm’s air war started in 1991. Wearing full MOPP gear sittin’ in a foxhole for what seemed like forever, as I looked up, the sky was literally filled with the wing lights of bombers and fighters headed north across the border into Iraq. Months later, waitin’ to fly back to the States, I shared a mess hall table in Khobar with an Airforce colonel who told me if I had looked up a few minutes later, I wouldn’t’ve seen anything, because they shut off their navigation lights once they flew into Iraqi airspace.
