NATIONAL NOTES.2 9 JANUARY 2023

Kevin McCarthy delivers first remarks after winning House Speaker: ‘Our nation is worth fighting for.’  Notable excerpts from his speech: “I will never give up. I will never give up for you, the American people. And I will never give up on keeping our Commitment to America. Our nation is worth fighting for;” “My responsibility – our responsibility – is to our country. Two months ago, you voted for a new direction for our country. You embraced our Commitment to America. And now, we are going to keep our commitment to you.” His closing remarks: “My friends – this chamber is now fully open for all Americans,” he said, which was met with thunderous applause from Republicans. Democrats in the chamber remained silent,” and that, my friends, was par for the course.

NATIONAL NOTES.1 9 JANUARY 2023

‘Pay to slay’: Biden sued for sending half a billion in Palestinian aid that could fund acts of terrorism. WHOA! It’s bad enough that the sonofabitch’s propped the door to the southern border wide open for the ragheads to sneak in with the other wetbacks. Now he’s delivering stacks of gift-wrapped cash to their FRONT door for the whole world to see. The FIRST thing the ragheads are going to, is use some of it to buy more rockets and shoot ’em across the border to try and kill more Israelis. I’ll bet Netanyahu is REALLY rolling his eyes at Geriatric Joe. Biden needs to give himself the Idiot of the Year Award.

NATIONAL NOTES 9 JANUARY 2023

Biden says the wrong day at January 6 ceremony honoring officers, remembers ‘what happened on July 6.’ ENOUGH ALREADY! This senility-ridden moron is an embarrassment to the United States of America. The Buffoon in Chief has flooded this country with 5 million illegal aliens while saying the border’s secure and has caused catastrophic losses to 401Ks (my value dropped 42% in 2022 – how much did YOU lose?). His policies have turned us from an energy EXPORTER into an importer, and he presided over what can only be called a clusterf⚡⭐⚡⭐ of a withdrawal from Afghanistan. He’s signed us back up for the Paris Climate Accords and is on bended knee in front of Iran, begging them to let us back into the nuclear deal #45 had the good sense to pull us out of. If Biden’s not calling Kamala the president, or his sister his wife, he’s falling down trying to board a plane. How many of the idiotic Democrats that elected him will stand by his side when his demented missteps cause the shit to hit the fan? All of ‘em will. Like I said, they’re idiots.

OREGON OBSERVATIONS.1 9 JANUARY 2023

Here’s how ODOT plans to replace the gas tax for electric cars. Commonsensers knew this was coming because, since the beginning of the EV craze, the question has been – what’s going to replace the state tax (38¢) and federal tax (18.4¢) per gallon that goes towards maintenance and construction of roads, bridges, and infrastructure? Let’s do the math. Assuming your vehicle (like mine) has a 26-gallon fuel tank, the government’s share of your fuel cost would be $14.04 per tank. When I was still working, I budgeted enough money to fill up four times a month, or $56.16 in the government’s pocket. These numbers assume the tank was empty during each trip to the pump, which obviously wasn’t, but I digress. The current state program is getting 2¢ a mile from the EV-driving volunteers enrolled in their program. Now for the comparison: Assuming a low average of 20 MPG and an empty tank at fill-up, each tank would allow 520 miles of travel. If an EV could even GO 520 miles between charges, under OReGO, those miles would net the state $10.40, and the feds would get zero to maintain their interstate highway system. A fossil fuel fill-up would give the state and the feds a total of $14.66. Do you see the disconnect? The state’s already screaming that they don’t have enough money coming in to maintain the roads they’ve got, much less build new ones, so how is bringing in (using numbers from the above example) $4.26 less per tank of driving going to make that better? While the EV fanatics will point to the low cost comparisons of home charging, they won’t talk about charging costs when you’re out on the road and have to use an L3 charger that’ll cost $30 per charge (and an hour of your time you’ll never get back). A trip from Newport to Ontario would take 2 ½ charges ($60 and 2 ½ hours). BTW – this trip info is hypothetical. In reality, the numbers are MUCH higher because if driven today, one would have to locate charging stations en route, exponentially increasing cost and time. Another fun fact: There’s not much to do for that hour of charging halfway to Ontario except watch the jackrabbits chase tumbleweeds.

OREGON OBSERVATIONS 9 JANUARY 2023

Eugene receives $ 6 million in federal funding for new pedestrian and bicycle bridge. For those who are just catching up and may’ve missed my last post on the subject (OO 30 Dec 22), the FEDERAL $6 million is only PART of the equation. Another matching $6 million has to come from local sources. Guess what that means? More of YOUR local taxes. So, as usual, their headlines flash a number at you that’s only half of what it really is. What they WON’T provide us with is the before and after pedestrian numbers that’ll show your $12 million was well spent. Another classic WP move – hype up the supposed need for the project before it starts, but never do any follow-up using actual data that proves they were right and the project was actually needed. Just because the high school spokesperson says a lot of kids attending North Eugene High School live on the north side of the Beltline doesn’t mean all of those kids WALK to school. It’s nothing more than a line of bureaucrat-speak that they used when they wrote the grant proposal. Next time they want to spend a few million of your tax dollars, they’ll probably get a grant writer to spin a tale about how all roads badly need wildlife bridges to keep nutrias from getting run over.

NATIONAL NOTES 8 JANUARY 2023

New Texas law gives senior citizens and people who are disabled property tax break. States full of Democrats would never let this happen, but here’s the irony: As state and local governments continue to raise property taxes, it’ll eventually become an unbearable financial burden on the elderly that have been in their home for years. Because they’re retired, they have only the money they’ve managed to save and monthly Social Security payments to rely on for everything. Once ballooning property taxes steal THAT, they’re out on the street living under a bridge. Why does this happen? I’ll tell you why. All the elected officials, and government-employed bureaucrats responsible for the decisions that’ll turn our senior citizens into bums and bumettes living in a tent on the sidewalk, will have a cushy civil service pension on top of their Social Security to anticipate. As a result, their attitude is, and always has been: I feel for you, but I can’t quite reach you.

OREGON OBSERVATIONS 8 JANUARY 2023

Lane Transit District to reduce service on 12 fixed bus routes. What about anybody who works on Barger that doesn’t own any other mode of transportation and depends on LTD’s bus to get home after work? How are THEY supposed to get home – walk? If their home is in South Eugene, THAT’LL take ’em over two hours in the rain. So much for the county’s faux compassion. They always say it’s about customer service when they want to disrupt YOUR life to tear up 11th Ave West or River Road so they can ask for more matching funds for the construction and new buses to drive on those routes. I don’t think they gave a SHIT about you, the customer, when Queen Brown and local Democrats locked everything down and forced you to wear a mask for months, which caused the work-from-home mentality, and resulted in the current worker shortage. ALL businesses are suffering – not just LTD. Hey, Democrats – you reap what you sow.

DAILY DELIBERATIONS 8 JANUARY 2023

Ending China’s Developing Nation Status Act would ban the US from ratifying treaties from international organizations where China is labeled “developing.” Developing my ass. Thanks to Clinton opening the door for China to join the World Trade Organization, they’re not the isolated nation they were in terms of economic prowess. For Christ’s sake, they’re loaning dirt-poor countries worldwide billions of dollars to let them build Chinese-owned and operated air and sea ports on the host nation’s land. Does that sound like something a “developing” country’s capable of? The Democrats are using smoke and mirrors to convince each other that the Chinese are still a dirt-poor stepchild of the world, while lobbyists for China are secretly stuffing wads of cash into the back pockets of Democratic lawmakers.
