NATIONAL NOTES 26 SEPTEMBER 2023

Troops plagued by filthy conditions, squatters in military barracks. ‘military officials chose to spend limited resources on facilities deemed higher priority than barracks because of their link to operational capabilities and mission readiness.’ Allow me to translate: We get to blame Congress because we spent our taxpayer-provided budget on new, sexy, shiny technology instead of taking care of routine housekeeping issues that exist in barracks, like mold, leaks in wastewater pipes, and keeping squatters out. Squatters? How in the hell do squatters get past the MP gate guards?

OREGON OBSERVATIONS 26 SEPTEMBER 2023

Coos Bay adopts shopping cart ordinance. I told you all this several years ago, but I’ll re-post to benefit those readers who’ve just come aboard. Any US store that offers the convenience of a shopping cart needs to employ the standard tactic used by German shopping centers (at least, that’s the way it was the last time I was there). Shopping carts are locked up in a corral outside, and the only way to get one is to insert a coin that releases the locking mechanism. After loading your goodies into your car, you return the cart to the corral, shoving it into the last cart in line, re-locking it, and your deposit is returned. I think the US model would be modernized to accept and dispense all forms of payment, i.e., cash, credit, and debit cards. The deposit amount and subsequent refund must also be more substantial than the one Deutschmark I remember from Germany. If it’s not, bums will keep ripping off the carts, assuming the dollar or two spent to unlock the cart is the cost of doing business. Assuming the stores are losing $200 each time a cart is stolen, the required deposit should be $10 or $20, keeping in mind that if the cost is too much of a financial burden on the low-income budget, once the patron has saved up the universal price of the shopping cart deposit, they’ll always get it back for use the next time as long as the cart is returned correctly.

DAILY DELIBERATIONS 26 SEPTEMBER 2023

Top Republicans launch probe into Leonardo DiCaprio-funded blue state lawsuits against Big Oil. If you’ve never figured out what was driving the train in earthfirster treehuggin’ California, the linked story’s for you. It seems all we hear about is mega movie stars using their arrogant big bucks to try and force their views on others, using their money-laden influence to shove their climate change goals down everybody’s throat. It doesn’t matter to them that it’ll cost you, me, and the general public money we don’t have to pay more for products because the manufacturers and suppliers are spending millions to fend off their vanity project lawsuits. That doesn’t matter to them. They’ve got more money than brains, as they’re jetting off or sailing their yacht to some exotic destination while the rest of us are shoveling snow and putting on chains to get to work in the morning.

NATIONAL NOTES 25 SEPTEMBER 2023

Residents confront local officials after Minnesota mom is violently carjacked in driveway: We’ve ‘had enough.’ Okay, folks, enough is enough. This is the latest in many examples of Democrat governance and legislative majority failures. Everywhere Democrats control governmental leadership, regular citizens pay the price for their WP liberalism. You want proof? HERE’S your evidence. According to data compiled by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, across the board, from 2012 to 2022, the number of people in prison went down by 22%. Regular readers should be able to figure out the “why.” It’s because blue states have increasingly embraced the criminal element with Soros-hired DAs and prosecutors, and WP, Democrat-controlled state legislatures that’ve passed no-bail laws, enabling the crooks to be back on the street before the booking officer can finish the arrest paperwork. And who’s paying the price? You, me, and citizens like those featured in the linked article. A vote for a Democrat – for ANY office – is a vote for criminals, wetbacks, and bums.

DAILY DELIBERATIONS.1 25 SEPTEMBER 2023

Restaurant fires back at NYT columnist after he complained about the cost of his meal: ‘Keep drinking buddy.’ Can you BELIEVE this guy? He’s the very definition of the arrogant elitist Democrat, and just like the one in the White House, he can’t see farther than the nose on his face. He’s bitchin’ about the cost of a cheeseburger when 80% of his $78 tab was the cost of his drinks. That’s like buying a rig that’ll pass everything but a gas station and then bitchin’ about the cost to fill it up.

DAILY DELIBERATIONS 25 SEPTEMBER 2023

Overwhelmed Texas city declares state of emergency as over 11K migrants — close to half its population — surge across border. Here’s an idea: Hire & train at least 20,000 ICE agents, buy them vehicles, set up a bounty for live capture of wetbacks, and get ’em the hell out of here. Regardless of the lies Democrats are spreading, the huge numbers of illegal aliens coming across Biden’s open border are destroyin’ this country. All the gains in the minimum wage over the last few years are fixin’ to evaporate as Biden’s wetbacks will work for next to nothin’. And that’s not the only problem. FAIR estimates that the 16.8 million illegals in this country cost taxpayers $150.6 billion a year. ICE’s FY23 budget is $8 billion. Compared to what you and I are throwing away on wetbacks, that’s a bargain.
