NATIONAL NOTES.1 1 MARCH 2024

Homeowners clash with ‘woke’ city that refuses to remove street squatters causing ‘disgusting’ hazard. One of these days, there’s gonna be a nationwide revolt. The WP, bleedin’ heart, upside-down laws that’ve carved out free reign for the bums have got to stop. Taxpaying citizens everywhere who can’t fully utilize the property they own due to bum squalor adjacent to the property line need to hold their property tax payments in abeyance until the city, county, or state transfers the offending vagrants to a Transition Center and cleans up the mess. Of course, for that to work, these governments would have to get off their asses, pool their money, construct and use those facilities. For Christ’s sake! The linked article features homeowners in Missouri, rated the 11th most affordable state out of 50 in the area of housing. If THEY’VE got a bum problem, it’s no wonder places like New York City, where property taxes are between 10 and 20% and the average studio apartment costs $3054 a month, have problems with people living in tents.

OREGON OBSERVATIONS 1 MARCH 2024

Mass transit systems facing budget shortfalls amid lower ridership, increased remote work. Hey Eugene! Are you payin’ attention?!? You continually require less and less parking for new construction across the board (private and commercial), to force people to ride LTD’s buses. How’s that gonna work if ridership drops to the point where there’s fewer and fewer buses because there’s less and less people payin’ to ride ’em? If it comes to that, the rape of 11th Avenue businesses for their land so you could make room for your precious EMX and the impending rape of River Road for the same reason will’ve been for nothin’. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that if the national trend continues here, the bleeding-heart bureaucrats who run this town will’ve painted themselves into a corner that they can’t get out of. What’re you gonna do in the future after you’ve been forced to cut back on the number of buses ’cause people aren’t ridin’ ’em, and there aren’t any parking spaces ’cause you didn’t require ’em? Maybe it’ll solve itself. After the earthfirster treehuggers COMPLETELY take over the town, people’ll get fed up and leave, so the reduced ridership’ll match the scaled-down bus fleet. Way to go Democrats – you’ve done it again!

DAILY DELIBERATIONS.1 1 MARCH 2024

New Law Would Ban Paper Coupons and Receipts. In a country led by a Democridiot administration, there’s no shortage of laughable (or scary) news items to comment on, but THIS one elbowed its way to the front of the line. In a Califoriaesk move, New Jersey Democrats are proposin’ legislation that would totally ban paper coupons and receipts, with no carve-out for small businesses that are not set up to provide electronic receipts. What’s gonna happen to the multitude of people who depend on a paper receipt to keep track of their expenditures and to balance whatever passes for their checkbook? Allow me to pass on what I tell point-of-purchase employees when asked if I want a receipt: If the customer appears to be over 50 years of age, don’t bother askin’ – just give ‘em the receipt.
