Let’s pull back and look at the big picture. It boils down to bang for the buck. Allow me to illustrate: Assuming a dealership pays their salesmen a base salary, along with a per-sale commission, as they have less and less inventory to sell, they can no longer afford to have a football team-sized sales staff. Any organization, includin’ a school system or district, is subject to the greater economy’s landscape, along with the irrefutable fact: once prices (includin’ wages) go up, they never go down. During contract negotiations, unions hold a gun to the management’s head to get more money for their members, but when the money runs out and their members start losing jobs, the union’s nowhere to be found.
