Florida landlord sounds the alarm over state’s squatter problem: ‘Property rights in this state are absurd.’ “Squatter’s rights” are the same as “bum rights” in this country, and there shouldn’t be ANY. Since when should it be legal – anywhere – for bums to take over a vacant property because it’s vacant, and the owner’s trying to sell it? As far as I’m concerned, that’s grand theft larceny. That’s what a lot of states call the theft of a vehicle that’s worth $30,000. Why wouldn’t they give the same name to the theft of a house worth $300,000?
