For the latest national full-year reporting period, homicides were up 37%, gun assaults were up 47%, and motor vehicle thefts were up 53%. Given that New Yorkers continue to feel unsafe on its streets regardless of that city’s crime statistics, the absolute LAST thing their mayor needs to do is slash more law enforcement positions.
