Seattle Public Schools’ decision to replace gifted program ignites debate on inclusivity.‘ Okay – let’s review. The WP liberal Seattle school district has (had) a gifted and talented program for exceptionally bright students. They just shut it down, using their self-imposed DEI mandate as a reason, not because the program didn’t have any Black or Brown students enrolled. They shut it down because it didn’t have ENOUGH Black and Brown students participatin’. And therein lies the systemic problem with the concept of DEI programs everywhere – they look for a problem to fix. Need an example? Look no further than the national stories you’ve read of schools bootin’ Asian kids from gifted programs because the school hadn’t met their self-imposed quotas of Black or Brown students. It’s not the Asian kid’s fault that they’re smarter. In fact, they should be rewarded with a chance at an accelerated learning environment, not punished for their ethnic background.
