Eugene firefighters quickly douse tent fire before it spreads to warehouse. This time of year, there’s no shortage of bum-caused fire stories. Let’s think for a minute about the owners of the adjacent warehouses full of products that almost went up in smoke. I can tell you from personal experience that they’ve probably been wearin’ out the phone lines tryin’ to get rid of the canvas condo development on their property line, but Hippieville’s legal and law enforcement juggernaut was about as fast to respond as molasses in January. And once again, the City’s inaction has caused a narrowly avoided catastrophe. Maybe if we’re lucky, the bleedin’ heart voters in this town’ll elect more bum-lovers in November, so this cycle of inaction towards vagrants will continue well into the future, and maybe, just maybe, somebody who loses their home or business to a bum-caused fire, will sue Hippieville into non-existence.
