Oregon lawmakers fail to pass major transportation bill to limit big cuts to ODOT. Whatcha expect? It was a typical Democrats’ plan – champagne taste on a beer budget. It pains me to say it, but based on these results, it would appear that despite a supermajority in both houses, enough Democrats grew a conscience at the last minute to kill these measures. ODOT’s got problems – a $354 million budget shortfall, forty percent of Oregon city roads are in poor condition, and the list goes on, but tryin’ to get well by puttin’ more tax burden on the backs of Oregonians isn’t the solution. Usin’ the $7 BILLION + that this state spends on bums and wetbacks every year to fix ODOT’s money problems – now THAT’S the solution.
