Abbott threatens to remove House Dems from office following dramatic departure to avoid vote. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the ‘derelict Democrat House members’ must return to the Lone Star State by 3 pm on Monday or face expulsion from office. Unlike in Oregon, where the side walkin’ out to deny a quorum can’t run for office after 10 unexcused absences, apparently in Texas, they can be fired after the first unexcused absence. If nothing else, this current impasse would appear to be an example of how short the Texas Democrats’ memories are. For Christ’s sake! They just tried this shit four years ago and It didn’t work. What makes ’em think it’s gonna turn out any different this time? How’s that go? The definition of insanity is doing something over and over the same way expecting different results?
