Market Basket in Mass. suspends 47 employees after reported documentation audit. Okay, folks, let’s go over this one more time: When a person applies for employment in the US, to comply with federal law, they have to satisfy the current and valid document requirements as set forth on the I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification), i.e., one item from column A (passport), or an item from column B (valid SSAN) AND column C (driver’s license). If the canned employees couldn’t produce the documents, then most likely they shouldn’t’ve been hired in the first place. But of course, this outfit is likely one of those that, even if they picked up on the documentation anomalies and told the 47 that they had a problem with their paperwork, would say, ‘You need to get it fixed, but we’re going to hire you anyway.’
