Should Google and Meta be liable for their roles in social media addiction? 68% said YES. Are you shittin’ me?!? Why only 68? Without going into a long dissertation, all I’m going to say is look at the $206 billion judgment against Big Tobacco. From my perspective, it’s the same thing. 4,600 kids take their own lives each year, most as a direct result of cyberbullying on one of the social media platforms. The problem is, how’re they gonna get the genie back in the bottle? I’m not a techie expert, but I don’t know how they’re gonna keep a kid from gainin’ access to a platform by the screen askin’ ’em if they’re 18 or over. All they have to do is click YES, and they’re off to the races.
