Eugene wire theft causes fire on telephone pole. Reminds me of when I worked at one of the two steel recyclers in town. We had bums camped out along our fence line on the adjoining ODOT right-of-way. They’d cut the fence at night, get into the yard, and take copper wire that was bailed and waiting to ship out. Then they’d take it to the other steel recycler and sell it.
