NATIONAL NOTES.1 9 APRIL 2026
Trump calls Iran ceasefire a ‘big day for world peace,’ threatens 50% tariff on allies. While I’m hesitant to overstate the obvious, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that #45/47’s idea of imposing a 50% tariff on our allies only makes common sense. While two out of the three major goals are to deny Iran a nuclear bomb and squash their ability to supply money and arms to the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Hamas, ensuring the unimpeded transit of the world’s oil supply through the Straits of Hormuz is the final major objective. Even though none of our oil supply is dependent on that route, that is not the case for our NATO allies. When asked to provide naval escorts for oil-bearing cargo ships passing through the Straits, apparently, they all refused. And once again, the US is shouldering the lion’s share of costs. It’s only fair that we recoup what will be a minuscule amount compared to what we’ve paid to neutralize the world’s biggest exporter of terror. NATO’s tryin’ to have their cake and eat it too.

NATIONAL NOTES 9 APRIL 2026
A new economic iron curtain is falling across America as trillions in wealth flee to the ‘Boom Belt.’ “I often tell people, as Governor of Florida, my job is to closely follow California, Illinois, and New York, so I can do precisely the opposite of what they do,” DeSantis said. And there you have it. This tidbit of common sense CANNOT be overstated. The Democrat machines in the Blue states have taxed themselves into a position of unlivability, and I wouldn’t doubt that the exodus of common sense will lead to their undoing. History repeats itself. The economic departure from their repressive financial environments is a modern-day dustbowl.

OREGON OBSERVATIONS 9 APRIL 2026
All Oregon prisoners will soon have their own personal tablet. Here’s why. While this’s being touted as a way to save money, how long will it be before an innovative prisoner figures out a way to use the tablet to send coded messages and smuggle in contraband? When it happens, do you think the state will publicize it so we can get in a few well-deserved “I told you so’s”?

New poll reveals Spanberger’s popularity is plummeting amid backlash over gerrymandering. Really? You idiot Virginia Democrats couldn’t see THAT one comin’? The only thing worse than electin’ a Democrat to run things is electin’ a commie. Just ask anybody with an ounce of common sense who lives in New York City.

Newsom’s California rail project now expected to cost $126B, official admits, with still no tracks laid. This could only happen in Democrat-laced California, where lyin’ to the voters is business as usual. The cost of the Democrats’ high-speed rail wet dream has exploded by 74% over what voters were told to get it approved back in 2008. Welcome to Liarsville, California (formerly known as Sacramento).

Houthis threaten to open a second shipping chokepoint as Red Sea tensions escalate. If the ragheads are idiots enough to try it, they need to be bombed back to the Stone Age – not that they’d have that far to go.
