‘Land of the Lost’ child star lived ‘Yellowstone’ life after Hollywood fame. ‘It was very hard work, but it was also very rewarding.’ Truer words were never spoken. Imagine being a kid in the 5th and 6th grade, having to feed horses before you could eat breakfast or walk to the school bus stop. On the weekends, you had to clean a bunch of stalls before you could do anything else, and anything else included saddlin’ up horses and takin’ ‘em on an exercise ride to keep ’em in shape – not vegin’ out on the couch playin’ video games. Do today’s 5th and 6th graders have ANY idea how much a saddle weighs, or how much effort it takes to throw in on a mare that stands 15 hands, or how much a wide pitchfork fulla horseshit and straw weighs, or how much effort’s required to throw it outta the back window of a stall? Hard work, yes, but NOTHIN’ smells as good as a field of fresh-cut alfalfa or is as satisfyin’ than diggin’ up some worms, grabbin’ a fishin’ pole, and walkin’ down to the creek to try your luck.
