San Diego wants to tax people out of their cars and into public transportation. Everybody – ESPECIALLY people that live in blueish states (like Oregon), counties, or cities, needs to be pissed about this San Diego proposal. “SANDAG’s new plan refuses to build the road improvements promised in their last plan but will continue to tax us until 2048 to pay for them. SANDAG’s finance plan states, ‘Charging fees for the transportation infrastructure that people use—for example, charging users for each mile they drive on the highway—can change travel behavior.’ It’s a bait and switch — freeway dollars, gas tax dollars, and registration fees promised for road improvements instead pay for costly public mass transit projects that less than 3% of the public uses.” San Diego is like any other Democrat-run town staffed with talented grant writers who bring in boatloads of federal cash to buy expensive buses and disrupt local street systems by building new corridors for them to use. Here’s the problem: they buy a fleet of these new made-in-the-USA buses that cost $800,000 apiece, and you can watch ’em drive around town with 3 or 4 people sitting inside. These cities say they’re going to improve existing roads and build new ones for cars using your increased tax dollars, when instead, they lied, so they can buy more new buses and alter more routes to make them bus friendly. All of this is to force you to take the bus for your shopping trip and carry two sacks full of groceries while some punk gets on at the next stop, pulls a knife, and takes your wallet. It’s harder to get mugged driving your own car than riding in a bus shared with strangers.
