Portland, OR Mayor Wheeler unveils $7.1B budget focusing on homeless, crime. Is it just me, or does all Democrat math make it look like they went to school at a fantasy camp somewhere? What do I mean? Wimpy Wheeler rolls out his $7.1 billion budget. Thinking that number seemed a tad optimistic, from a solubility perspective, I researched their numbers. According to page 104 of the City of Portland, Oregon – FY 2022-23 Adopted Budget, Total External Revenues are $3.6 billion. The way I learned math, that’s a $3.5 billion shortfall – essentially, he’s proposing to spend twice as much as he’s taking in. If you look at the bottom line (Total NET Budget), it adjusts to $5.4 billion – $1.7 billion more than he’s taking in, which includes internal revenue and transfers. Those numbers are dipped in red ink in the real world but not in Democrat Fantasyland. Considering the tsunami of lost revenue Portland’s about to experience, caused by the mass migration away from out-of-control criminals and bums, these numbers can only get worse.
