Oregon voters could decide on ranked-choice voting soon. A bill asking voters to approve the system is among those stalled by a Republican walkout in the Senate. As far as THIS writer’s concerned, they can put a fork in it – it’s done. Bills like this are another reason to ensure the walkout lasts through 25 Jun 23, the last day of the 82nd Oregon Legislature. The next one won’t start until February 2024. That session will only last 35 days. The politicians in Salem can’t agree on who’s bringing in the coffee in that length of time, much less legislate on anything significant for the state’s citizens.
