Eugene Police: 17-year-old killed in hit-and-run at W. 7th Ave and Van Buren. In April 2017, the Oregon State Court of Appeals ruling in Oregon v. Daynanthony Tyler made jaywalking legal, and as a result, incidents of this nature have become more common. The kid was crossing in the middle of the intersection after dark and, truth be known, wasn’t wearing light-colored or reflective clothing. This is what the WP faction does. They take commonsense laws that’ve been on the books for years and either eliminate them or change them so much to make people happy, that they’re useless. In this case, their ruling meant to allow bums to legally push their overloaded, stolen shopping cart across a busy street in the middle of a block, cost a human life. Anyone sitting on the state appeals court bench that voted to make jaywalking legal should be made to put “caused a person’s death” on their resume.
