Off work because you’ve suffered a debilitating injury or illness and have to wait 3 or 4 months before the state’s payments start kickin’ in? This is just ONE of the reasons Oregon has the 4th highest rate of homelessness in the United States. Go ahead and miss four mortgage payments in a row and see what happens. Last time I checked, canvas condo developments don’t come with a storage unit to hold all the stuff that won’t fit in your tent. The Democrats that dominate this state’s legislature should be ashamed of themselves. Pass a law, invent a program that takes care of the entire state, and then only hire 14 people to run it. That’s like tryin’ to bail out the ocean with a teaspoon. Maybe that was their ulterior motive. After all, when somebody loses their home ’cause the state took so long to pay out an authorized benefit, they sure as hell can’t afford to hire a lawyer to sue the state when they’re livin’ under a tarp.
