Rep. Hoyle votes No on the Defense Authorization Act. I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but Val Hoyle strikes again. In her statement to try and justify her vote, she talks of required reforms. While that position has merit, the way to effect change is to do the hard work. She needs to sponsor and lobby for a bill that implements the changes she wants. Voting no, which throws away the included pay raise for all DOD members, is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. As an example of how far DOD pay lags the private sector, in 1969, as a slick-sleeved Army private, I was making $95 a month. That trend of disparity continued throughout my entire career, thanks to elected officials like Representative Hoyle. Talk’s cheap and, as such, the politicians’ preferred stock-in-trade. It seems to me that common sense should prevail when an elected official votes on whether or not to take care of the people who put their lives on the line to take care of them and the remaining American public. Of course, the politicians that don’t, or won’t, are too busy pandering to the WPs that got them elected. For an example of this trait, look no further than the Idiot in Chief bending over backward to take care of the earthfirster treehuggers.
