Gov’t warns of more grid blackouts … as the city bans gas use. Was anybody expecting anything else? This town’s been a hippie-filled Haight-Ashbury wannabe since the tie-dyed days of the ’60s, and none of ’em ever left. Some inconvenient baggage that accompanies their gas prohibition decision is that the average cost to cook, heat and cool in a home with electricity is 30% higher than gas. It appears to be another case of Democrats being unable to see farther than the nose on their face. As the tax base shrinks, because people won’t pay to build anywhere it’s going to cost more every month, the city leaders will be sitting alone in the dark when the rolling blackouts start. That’s because the same treehuggin’, earthfirster mentality got rid of all the coal-fired power plants. Maybe THAT’S what’s happening – all hippies want to be cavemen and women. I don’t know how that’s going to work out for ’em, though. They think fire pollutes and are against killing animals to make clothes to wear when it gets cold. I guess they’ll have to go back to an Adam and Eve thing until the first time it freezes. Then they’ll build a raft and float to a warm-weather, Democrat-filled oasis – Hawaii.
