The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals wrote that Oregon’s public defense system is a ‘Sixth Amendment nightmare.’ Okay – my regular readers know that Oregon’s public defender shortage is partly based on pay disparity, so HERE’S an idea: force the Idiot in Chief to apply some of our tax dollars he’s usin’ to pay off student loans to boost the pay of public defenders so it’ll make the career choice more attractive to legal professionals.
