OREGON OBSERVATIONS 6 MAY 2026

Lane County tourism leaders push back on county budget proposal. In 2023, Lane County raised the Transient Lodging Tax (TLT) by 2%, which is a tax paid by visitors when they stay in overnight lodging in Lane County. The funds raised by the tax were originally supposed to be spent back on tourism-related projects, including plans for an indoor sports complex. Now, the Lane County Budget Committee is proposing to reallocate $6.5 million of those funds for public safety measures. So what’s new? The Democrats who get elected to run things in this state are ALWAYS pullin’ shit like this. Invent a tax on somethin’, say it’s gonna be used for one thing, and after there’s a few million dollars accumulated, steal the money, and use it for one of their favorite causes, usually one of their pet projects like bums or wetbacks. When’re the voters of this state gonna wise up? I know. Here’s an idea: QUIT ELECTIN’ DEMOCRATS!!!
